Your smartphone can play music but the options you get to do cool things with the music files you have depends on the music player app on your smartphone. LISTENit is a cool and interesting app developed by Super Tools Corporation. The app promises excellent technical features to offer a solid listening experience. We look to find if the app walks the talk or not.

The app starts with permissions for access to storage, device location and the capability to make calls. This is disconcerting, as the app should ideally only need storage access in order to find music files. The app doesn't explain why it needs the other two permissions but the app doesn't make it necessary for these permissions to be granted in order to start working. Once you are done with the permissions, you are taken to the app's bright and colorful homepage. The homepage is called 'My Music' and you can access your entire music collection on your phone through this section. There is another tab called 'Discover' on the homepage and you can discover new music through this feature.

The music player app can work without an internet connection as it focuses on the music already available on your phone. The app supports multiple file formats and this allows the app to run any music file you want with ease. The songs are all listed under 'All Songs' and you can tap on the option to go to the entire list. You can decide to play a particular song if you want or you can browse through 'Artist', 'Album' or 'Folder' as well to find the song you want to play. There is also the option of shuffle playing all the songs while the app also allows for sorting songs by the date when they were added. The music player allows for tapping on the 'Options' button at the extreme right of the song listing to offer features like 'Set as Ringtone', 'Edit Lyric', 'Song Details' etc.
The music player has a very cool interface as well. You can easily change songs by swiping right or left while in the playing environment and you can add the song being played to your favorites, to a playlist or on repeat as well. LISTENit also has a very cool lyrics feature that can show you the lyrics of the audio being played in the playing environment. If the lyrics file is already present, you will see the lyrics automatically. Otherwise, you can either add the lyrics yourself manually or by searching for the lyrics file online (if you have an internet connection).
The music player has also a very cool equalizer that allows you to edit the sound of the song on the go. 22 pre-defined equalizer effects can affect the song's sound. Otherwise, there is also the custom option that allows you to play with different frequency components and introduce degree of bass boost and virtualizer.

The music player offers other cool features as well like the 'Ringtone Cutter'. This essentially allows you to pick a certain section of the song and then to save it as a ringtone. The Night Mode feature darkens up the app's theme while the Theme Color feature allows you to choose between six different theme colors. A sleep timer feature is present as well that allows the app to stop playing music after a certain time. This is a great option if you listen to music before falling asleep as it ensures that the music stops after the pre-defined time period has passed with the sound not disturbing your sleep.
